CARE AND MAINTENANCE
Fertilizing
Carnivorous plants do not need fertilizer. If you have other bog plants in the container, you may use a highly diluted (1/4 the recommended amount) orchid or acid plant fertilizer only as a foliar feed. Do not apply to soil.
Pests and Controls
Insect pests like aphids, mealybugs or scale can be controlled with most general insecticides. Never use soap insecticides or pesticide from an aerosol can. It is best to use wettable powders.
Dormancy
Our native plants need to go through a period of dormancy. Don’t force them to continue growing in the winter months, as they will turn sickly and die.
Watering
Keep soil moist, but not waterlogged, all year-round. During dormancy, keep soil drier.
Pruning Remove dead pitchers and keep non-carnivorous plants pruned and dead-headed like any other garden plant.
